Already Busted My Meerschaum Pipe
I am notorious for breaking pipes, so I have already broken my meerschaum pipe.
I broke the tenon, the little bit that connects the stem to the bowl. So, I just glued it in with some silicon glue. Works just fine.
Strangely, there is no space for a filter. I guess I'll just have to clean it by running a pipe cleaner through it.
It is a lot more flavorable than a briar pipe, and stays cooler.
The inside of the bowl immediately turned brown after the first smoke, as did the rim.
Posted by Bob Wallace, who is glad he only spent $15 on it.

How do you break pipes? Pulling them apart to clean them? Throwing them at someone? I've never broken a pipe, so I am at a bit of a loss, here.
How was the smoke with the meerschaum?

I didn't even think anybody smoked pipes anymore. This is all news to me.

In the future, you can get replacement mortise and tenons for your Meerschaum pipe so you don't have to glue it in place. We carry them and they only run about $.20 for a mortise and tenon. These will fit most meerschaum pipes produced in the last 30 years. You are lucky that it was the tenon that broke and not the shank itself. It probably would have cost much more than the pipe to fix that.
You can get pipes that have spaces for filters if you want but they are not usually imported into the US. The filtered meerschaum pipes are much more popular in Europe than in the US. They do cost a bit more than $15 though...

If I couldn't smoke a pipe without breaking it, I would just quit smoking. Actully, I did. I just wanted to bragg about that. I broke a good dozen or so before I quit smoking.

I broke the pipe pulling the stem off of the bowl. There is a piece inside that snapped. I get the impression it was broken anyway.
Meerschaum smokes a lot smoother than a briar.
I have broken every pipe I've had.
