This movie has everything you could possibly want: a Martian invasion, an S&M queen dressed in skin-tight black leather, a cardboard robot with a police light on top of his head, and a disintegrator ray.

The S&M queen comes to Earth to kidnap human men, since their weezers are still working, unlike Martian men, whose has apparently fallen off. Yet the men don't want to go, the dopes! Sex with millions of Martian women! This is a problem? Where?

This is an underrated classic, which should be seen by every sci-fi fan!

Wow, gorgeous Joi Lansing is a TRIPLE threat TSC babe!

You know, I used to watch the amazing Joi Lansing on Love That Bob! which was the rerun version of The Bob Cummings Show... although that was when it was on Nik at Nite in the 1980's.

But I do remember her as a regular on The Beverly Hillbillies as Lester Scruggs' wife... or was she Earl Flatt's wife?  Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter.  All she ever did was look slinky and go shopping - once I seem to remember that Granny tried to teach her to cook, but I don't think it worked.

Joi, a former Miss Hollywood and a Goldwyn Girl and a rival of Marlyn Monroe really was a pretty good actress and all around entertainer who was a very popular and successful blonde bombshell right at the time blonde bombshells dropped out of favor in movies.  Suddenly she had to make a living modeling polka-dot bikinis ~ something she did exceptionally well, woof!  She was part of the swanky world of Frank Sinatra in the 50's and worked steadily throughout the 60's as a television and stage performer and she became one of the most popular pin-ups of American soldiers in Viet Nam.

 

Here she is vamping it up and singing the  Elmer Bernstein title song from The Silencers - which, coincidentally, happens to be one of our favorite movies starring the great Dean Martin (who costarred with Joi in at least two movies) as super spy Matt Helm. Although in the movie the song is sung by Cyd Charisse.

Armed & Dangerous Babe :: Tammy Bruce

I've had a "thing" for lesbian feminist liberal-turned-conservative author (The New Thought Police, The New American Revolution) and radio talk show host Tammy Bruce for well over a decade, ever since I first started listening to her on KFI radio in Los Angeles (she's now syndicated from KABC in L.A.). Politically, Tammy calls herself a "classical liberal" (i.e., libertarian), but she's much too conservative for my taste. But Tammy's soooooo politically incorrect during this horrible Era of Political Correctness -- and she's just so friggin' CUTE -- that I can't resist her.

And this photo of Tammy, which now graces her official website, is a fine example of why I'm so crazy about her. Tammy, armed with her .38 snubnose Smith & Wesson, affectionately named "Snuffy Bruce," writes: "A Chick with a Gun and a Microphone. Yes, the two things that make the establishment the most upset. Well, three things if you include the chick." She adds: "There has been some controversy over the fact that I have my finger on Snuffy's trigger. Yes, I know that it is politically incorrect firearm etiquette, but this is a photo and I wanted it this way for the dramatic impact. It's that simple. It's a portrait, not an instructional photograph."

I've tried to locate some info on where this photo originated. No luck. But this is German actress Eva Habermann, and I don't care that much about where the photo comes from -- Eva looks great with a firearm, doesn't she?

I do know this: Eva appeared in the first season of the sci-fi TV series Lexx, which used to be broadcast on the SciFi Channel. And this pic definitely did not come from there.

Armed & Dangerous Babe :: Senta Berger

In the 1960's Austria's response to the invading waves of Italian sex goddesses in cineme' internationale' was with a full broadside of beautiful Senta Berger

Waaay to go, Krauts!

A talented and graceful  actress of astonishing beauty and the exact same dimensional superstructure as Italy's Sophia Loren, but packed into a more petite architecture, Senta Berger was lusciously curvey and internationally acclaimed for her co-starring role in 1966's The Quiller Memorandum, opposite George Segal as the hero from the popular Quiller series of spy-thriller novels. 

The Quiller Memorandum is considered by artsy-fartsy, long-nosed movie critics to be one of the very best in the spy film genre. And for once those fools are right because it is really good.  Starts out kind of slow though, at least for those of us who are used to Bondesque extravaganza.  Senta plays a school-teacher in post WW2 Berlin who under-cover spy Segal apparently causes to get mixed up with a group of neo-nazis led by a saturnine Max von Sydow and ... well, I can't really say anything else because it would ruin it all.  I never have  figured out exactly what the neo-nazis in question were up to ... .  but it must have been something pretty bad.   Alex Guinness is in it too, and he's always good - probably because he's named after a beer -  so next time you get the chance to see Senta in Quiller ... do it.  It's on Turner Classic Movies from time to time.

Interestingly enough, Senta Berger would spoof her own role from the intellectual Spy-Thriller-Quiller with a spot in The Ambushers, which is the absolute worst of the Matt Helm movies starring as our hero Matt Helm, our hero Dean Martin.  Luckily you have to buy all the Matt Helm movies on dvd boxed together now, so you can watch The Silencers and The Wrecking Crew, which are both great and the pretty good Murderers' Row without having to suffer through The Ambushers. Dean doesn't even have any good lines - however Senta is very armed and very dangerous so The Ambushers is not ALL bad.   Besides, it also has Janice Rule (who does have some good lines), and the Slaymates (who have great lines, but no dialogue) and a really cheesy flying saucer.  In fact, the whole stupid thing looks like one day producer Irving Allen called up Dean Martin and said, "Hey Dino, let's get some girls and go to Acapulco for a week and play golf... and we'll make another Matt Helm movie while we're at it.  Naaw, we don't need no script,  ... whaddayasay?"   

Although she was a successful working actress, model and international star, Senta Berger never followed the typical glitterati-to-burnout-to-oblivion formula of most of the popular personalities of the day.  Senta remained happily married with children for thirty years while enjoying a long career both in Europe and Hollywood, and she is still at it.

It's no wonder that today, Senta Berger is considered a national treasure.

Who's Nell McAndrew? I wasn't sure, so I Googled her, and here's the scoop: Nell got her big start in the late 1990s as a Tomb Raider body double for the videogame's Lara Croft. She's posed for Playboy. And nowadays, she's a TV star in the U.K., starring in shows like, er, I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here. Well, she's got me paying attention!

Armed & Dangerous Marionette Babe: Lisa of Team America

I suppose you might think I've flipped. No, I don't think Marionette Lisa is anywhere near as alluring as the other Armed and Dangerous Babes who've been posted here, with the possible exception of the cartoon "babes."

However, I recently published a review of the movie (shameless plug). Showtime also has Team America: World Police (2004) scheduled for airing this month. If anyone who reads this blog hasn't seen Team America yet, this might be a good opportunity for those with access to the premium channels which will show it.
