Some years ago my neighbor across the street told me there was a baby ribbon snake sunning itself in his front yard. Sure enough, there was. I was able to pet its tail, although it curled up in a strike position,
Not that it could hurt a human. They're harmless to people, like garter snakes. Even grown, they're not that big. I don't have a clue what they eat. Maybe toads, which I saw a snake eat once in my front yard. Damn toad was screaming! I didn't know they could do that.
