Happy Birthday Patty

Not long ago I posted a Music Video Babe entry for Karla DeVito featuring her performance with Meatloaf on Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Those who saw that posting might recall I mentioned she did a lip-synch to the original singer's voice from the album recording. Ellen Foley was that original singer. However, since she wasn't in that video (or any others from Bat Out Of Hell), this entry won't feature more of those videos.
Ellen Foley has had both a solo singing career and contributed to efforts with others since singing on Bat Out Of Hell. She has also had an active stage presence on Broadway, in film and on TV. I like the sample below of her singing.

Back when MTV was new, the video below was shown often. It remains one of my favorites for many reasons.
The Bat Out Of Hell album had a few top 40 hits, but sold steadily, became legendary and spawned several follow-ups. Most people associated with it did well as a result. Karla DeVito toured with Meatloaf promoting the album. Although she had not done the vocal work on the original album (done by Ellen Foley), she got the call to do the music videos. Since she does lip synch in this it might not be on her short list of favorite videos, but it is on mine.

1968. Oh yes, those were the days.

Most people who know April Stevens' music probably think of the hit made with her brother Nino Tempo: Deep Purple. However, April had some hits of her own, such as this one which predates music videos, but this clip has some shots of April for footage:
That struck me as quite apropos for The Sudden Curve.

Posted by Tom Ender, who currently follows Central Daylight time, and therefore makes the happy birthday wish for Nancy within her birthday, at least under my time.
Although Juice had a hit with "It's a Heartache", that was before music videos took off. She later released a cover of "Angel of the Morning" (originally done by Merrilee Rush and the Turnabouts) which got considerable play. However, I remember her more for the Quiet Lies songs which came a bit later. This one has good humor . . .
Happy Birthday, Juice Newton !!!

In her time, Janis was considered by many to be the Queen of Rock.
The way I figure it. today would have been Janis's 66th birthday.

Not that long ago I posted an MV Babe entry for Nancy Wilson. This time Sister Ann gets the treatment. If I had to pick between them (not a likely event), even though in the 70's Ann was one of the hottest "babes" of rock, I favor(ed) Nancy's looks. However, Ann has one of the best voices in rock and sang lead for Heart: one of my favorite groups.
I could pick any number of Heart videos, since Ann will grace them all, but I like their earliest work best. I used "Dreamboat Annie" for Sister Nancy. I could use "Magic Man," "Barracuda," "Little Queen" or others for Ann, and Nancy will decorate those videos too. However, for the best balance of video quality, performance and song, I like this cut of "Crazy On You."
Since Ann singing lead got a good portion of Nancy's video, turnabout is fair play. Nancy gives a great guitar solo intro to Ann's superlative voice on this classic -
Happy Birthday Ann Wilson.
